A property dispute between the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) and New Kingdom Ministry has caused tension in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Members of New Kingdom Ministry allegedly attacked the BCS worship centre on Nsikak Eduok Road, vandalizing the property despite a court ruling.
Hon. Justice Joy Unwana of the Akwa Ibom State High Court ruled on October 17, 2024, that the disputed property belongs to BCS. However, New Kingdom Ministry rejected the judgment.
A representative of the ministry, Sammy Effiok, stated the decision was unfair, prompting them to invade the BCS property, claiming it as their own.
BCS spokesperson, Amah Williams, addressed the press on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in Uyo, condemning the act. Williams accused New Kingdom Ministry of sponsoring thugs to damage their property and disobeying the court’s ruling.

“The fact of the matter is simple: the property in question is the subject of litigation. Hon. Justice Joy Unwana of the Akwa Ibom State High Court ruled on the 17th of October, 2024, that New Kingdom Ministry’s application lacked merit and was dismissed with the sum of N100,000.00 awarded against the applicant in favor of each of the 12 respondents. Rather than seek good legal advice, the members of the New Kingdom Ministry decided to take the law into their hands by organizing hoodlums to invade the BCS Worship Centre at Nsikak Eduok, in clear contempt of the Court’s ruling,” he said.
Williams criticized the viral video shared by New Kingdom Ministry, claiming it falsely suggested that BCS’s headquarters in Calabar was attacked. He urged the public to ignore the misleading video and focus on the truth.
He noted that BCS is a peaceful organization which believes in the law hence, justice will prevail.
