A cruise company in Florida, Villa Vie Residences, has introduced a unique way for Americans to “escape” a second term of Donald Trump as U.S. President.
The company’s Tour La Vie programme offers a four-year world cruise, visiting over 140 countries without setting foot in the United States.
Passengers can choose from different options, including a one-year “Escape from Reality,” a two-year “Mid-Term Selection,” a three-year “Everywhere but Home,” or the full four-year “Skip Forward” journey.
Villa Vie’s CEO, Mikael Petterson, explained that the idea is not political. “We came up with this marketing campaign before we even knew who would win. Regardless of who would have won, you would have half of the population upset,” he said to Newsweek
Passengers will enjoy food, drinks, WiFi, medical visits, housekeeping, and laundry. Prices begin at $40,000 per year, with the full four-year trip costing up to $320,000 for a double-occupancy cabin. Alcohol is included at dinner, but other drinks cost extra.
Petterson told Sky News, “If you’re looking for an escape… there is no better place than on a ship, right, where you can wake up every day to a new backyard and get everything you need taken care of.”
The ship, which accommodates 600 people, has already begun sailing and allows guests to join at different ports. However, the Villa Vie Odyssey recently faced a four-month delay in Belfast due to repairs.
This innovative travel idea has sparked interest among those looking for a fresh start away from home.
