Vivian Wilson, the transgender daughter of tech billionaire Elon Musk, recently shared plans to leave the United States.
The 20-year-old made this announcement after Donald Trump won the presidential election.
Vivian expressed her thoughts on the social media platform, Threads, saying she no longer feels comfortable in the U.S. political environment with Trump back in office.
According to the Daily Mail, she said, “I don’t see my future in the United States.
“I’ve thought this for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me. Even if he’s only in office for four years, even if anti-trans regulations don’t materialise, the people who voted for this aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.”
Vivian, originally named Xavier Musk at birth, legally changed her name and gender in 2022.
She also chose to remove Musk’s name, adopting her mother’s maiden name, Wilson. In court papers, she expressed a wish to cut all ties with her father.
Musk, who has voiced support for Trump, has had a strained relationship with Vivian. He described her as a “communist” and criticized her for views on wealth and identity.
He also claimed he was “misled” into approving puberty blockers for Vivian, thinking she was in danger during the COVID period. Musk has publicly criticized puberty blockers, calling them “sterilization drugs.”
He also labeled gender dysphoria as “incredibly evil,” stating that those promoting it “should go to prison.”
Musk referred to Vivian as “dead,” explaining that “they call it ‘deadnaming’ because the son I knew is gone.
Vivian responded to Musk’s remarks, saying he was barely present in her life. She shared that he often disapproved of her “femininity and queerness” and felt unfairly stereotyped by him.
