Eniola Aluko, a former player for the England women’s team, has made history by becoming the first black woman to own a club in Italy.
Beyond Boders reports that Aluko has bought a big part of FC Como’s women’s team.
The 37-year-old shared the news on her social media page, saying she is part of a group called Mercury 13, which spent $100 million to buy most of the club.
Como Women’s team started in 2020 and has a stadium that holds 3,700 people. They are currently competing in Italy’s top football league, Serie A.
Eniola whose brother is the ex-Super Eagles player Sone Aluko, was born in Lagos to Nigerian parents in 1987.
She later became a British citizen and played for England’s national team.
