Erica Ash, known for her role as M-Chuck in the Starz show “Survivor’s Remorse” and her work on “MADtv,” passed away on Monday due to cancer.
Confirming the death of the 46-year-old star, her mother, Diann, said, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend Erica Chantal Ash (1977-2024). After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she transitioned peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor, and genuine zest for life. Her memory will live eternally in our hearts.”
Throughout her career, Ash starred in shows like “The Big Gay Sketch Show” and “In Contempt.”
She also appeared in series such as “A Black Lady Sketch Show” and “Family Reunion.”
In the movie “Scary Movie V,” Ash played Kendra Brooks. She was also featured in 19 episodes of “Real Husbands of Hollywood.”

On “Survivor’s Remorse,” she played Mary Charles Calloway (M-Chuck), the half-sister of basketball player Cam Calloway (Jessie T. Usher), for all four seasons of the show.
Ash joined “MADtv” in its 14th and final season in 2008, where she portrayed celebrities like Naomi Campbell, Whoopi Goldberg, and Lisa Leslie.
Ash graduated from Emory University with a degree in pre-medicine, but chose to pursue a career in entertainment.
She toured with the Broadway version of “The Lion King” early in her career and later joined “The Big Gay Sketch Show,” created by Rosie O’Donnell. She was on the show for its first two seasons alongside actors like Kate McKinnon and Colman Domingo.
Ash’s family had asked for donations to be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure or another breast cancer foundation.
