Flood Takes Over Homes in Ibeju-Lekki

by Beyondboders

Heavy rains which lasted for many hours on Wednesday, have caused floods in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

The floods, causing water to cover homes and roads, affected many areas, including Epe, Eredo, Bogije, Labora, Abijon, Sangotedo, Awoyaya, and Ibeju-Lekki.

People living in these places said that the flooding happened because trash was blocking the water channels.

Mr. Rasheed Ayobami, who lives in Labora, said his home was flooded because there are no proper drainage systems. Water filled his house and ruined many of his things.

He said, “There is too much water flowing into my compound, the entire house is submerged.

“I live in a new site where there is no drainage which makes the water run into residential homes, rendering us homeless because we can’t sleep inside the water,” he said.”

Another resident, Seyi Arowosaye, complained about the floods on Ibeju-Lekki Expressway. He asked the local government to clean the drains and for people to stop throwing trash in them.

He also asked the Lagos State Government to finish fixing the roads in Sangotedo quickly.

Mrs. Bola Fadugba, who lives in Labora, said the floods are so bad she has to move to her sister’s house in Eputu during the rainy season. She asked the government to find a solution to stop the flooding problem.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the flood also affected roads like Abraham Adesanya, Awoyaya, Sangotedo, and Majek due to ongoing road repairs.
