Esther Crawford who once worked closely with Elon Musk at Twitter, has announced her new role at Meta, Mark Zuckerberg’s company.
Crawford shared the news on Instagram, saying she is now the Director of Product for the Messenger team at Meta.
She explained that she chose Meta because she is fascinated by how people connect through technology, and Meta’s global reach of nearly 4 billion people is unmatched.
Previously, Crawford served as Twitter’s director of product management for over two years until she was let go in February 2023.
She expressed admiration for the quality of the team at Meta and Zuckerberg’s leadership, noting the company’s efficiency and vision.
Her move to Meta comes after her time at Twitter, where she gained attention for embracing Musk’s demanding work culture.
She even slept on the office floor to meet deadlines, reflecting Musk’s intense approach to work.
Despite her positive experiences, Crawford later acknowledged challenges in dealing with Musk’s unpredictable mood swings and the pressure within his inner circle.
Her transition to Meta could signal Zuckerberg’s efforts to compete with Musk’s ventures.
Zuckerberg recently launched Threads, a messaging app similar to Twitter, indicating Meta’s ambitions in the social media space.
However, Crawford mentioned that she will continue to use Musk’s platforms despite her new role at Meta.
“I do plan to keep using both X and Threads. I’m a big believer in using all social products that one can as a product builder,” she said in an email to BI on Monday.
