A foundation is offering a reward of N50 million for information that helps catch Mohbad’s killers.
Mohbad whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, died on September 12, 2023, at 27 years old. His death has led to protests and much debate, while the Lagos State government has ordered an investigation into the cause of his death.
This reward was announced after an autopsy could not determine why Mohbad died, as the pathologist said that the body was too decomposed to find a clear cause of death.
Larry Omodia, the CEO of African Television and the African Foundation for Justice, expressed his disappointment over the inconclusive results and stressed the need for answers.
Omodia said, “We are raising 50 million naira for anyone with information that leads to the conviction of whoever eliminated or killed Mohbad. You can take this globally. We know somebody somewhere knows something.”

The announcement was made at Ikorodu High Court after the coroner’s inquest, where important witnesses were questioned.
These included Primeboy, a close friend of Mohbad, and the pathologist who did the autopsy. The investigation revealed that the cause of death was unknown due to the body’s condition.
Beyond Boders further gathered that Omodia mentioned that the foundation is offering free DNA testing for any child in Nigeria, in partnership with organizations in Belgium, the UK, and Malta. This initiative aims to support families and ensure justice for all.
The foundation is also planning a tribute concert called “Sing For Mohbad” to keep his memory alive.
Mohbad’s lawyer, Wahab Shittu, explained that the body’s decomposition was a major reason the autopsy could not determine the cause of death. The investigation will continue, with the next hearing set for June 25.
