Granit Xhaka, the footballer who left Arsenal last year, had a funny moment during the celebration of his team, Bayer Leverkusen, winning the Bundesliga.
His teammate, Jeremie Frimpon, joked with him about it as Leverkusen won the title with a big 5-0 win over Werder Bremen.
This victory is special for Leverkusen because it is their first Bundesliga win ever!
It is also their first major trophy since 1993, with the win breaking Bayern Munich’s 12-year winning streak in Germany.
Xabi Alonso, Leverkusen’s coach, must be really proud. Their game was amazing, with Florian Wirtz scoring three goals, Victor Boniface scoring a penalty, and Xhaka hitting a great goal from far away.
Xhaka has been a key player for Leverkusen since joining them; this is his first league title since playing for FC Basel in 2012.
During a live video on Instagram, Jeremie Frimpong who has been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool, teased Xhaka by saying, “You came from Arsenal and you won it here.” It was a funny moment.
Meanwhile, Arsenal lost their top spot in the Premier League after a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa. While Arsenal was sad, Leverkusen was celebrating.
Xhaka played 297 games for Arsenal before moving to Germany in a £21.5 million deal. Since joining Leverkusen, he has played in every league game and won the league title in his first season.
Arsenal has not won a league title since 2003, but Xhaka has now won one with Leverkusen.
While at Arsenal, Xhaka won two FA Cups and two Community Shield medals.
Leverkusen is also doing well in other competitions. They have a two-goal lead in the Europa League and are set to play Kaiserslautern in the DFB-Pokal next month. They could win a famous treble if they keep playing like this!
