Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is mourning the loss of his mother-in-law, Hajiya Asiya Gauyama.
She passed away recently, and her death was announced by Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, in Abuja on Monday.
Olofu expressed condolences to Ganduje, his wife Prof. Hafsatu Ganduje, and their family, sharing that a funeral prayer for Hajiya Asiya Gauyama will take place in Kano today, followed by her burial according to Islamic customs.
In his statement, Olofu said, “It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt sympathy that we announce the passing of Hajiya Asiya Muhammad Gauyama, the beloved mother of Prof Hafsatu Ganduje, the wife of the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
“Gauyama was a revered matriarch, whose life was characterized by her unwavering commitment to family, community, and faith. Her passing is a profound loss, not only to her immediate family but also to all who knew and loved her.”

Ganduje has arrived Kano for the funeral prayer which is scheduled for 2 pm at his residence on Miyangu Road of the state.

This sad news follows the recent death of Vice President Kashim Shettima’s mother-in-law, Maryam Albishir, who passed away in Kano on Sunday evening after a long illness. Hajiya Asiya Gauyama was 69 years old.
