The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly opposed the idea of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, becoming governor of Lagos State in 2027.
This reaction came after some groups, including the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders, publicly endorsed Seyi Tinubu for the role.
Another group, Friends of Seyi Tinubu, also described him as a great leader with impressive qualities.
Hakeem Amode, the spokesperson for Lagos PDP, rejected these endorsements, saying, “Lagos will not serve him,” adding that governance should not be treated as a family inheritance.
Amode warned that any move to impose Seyi Tinubu as the next governor would face strong opposition. He stated, “Governorship is not a gift,” pointing out that Lagosians had already shown their dislike for the Tinubu political family by voting against President Tinubu during the last presidential election.
According to Amode, many people in Lagos are against the Tinubu dynasty and will not support Seyi Tinubu’s governorship plans.
