Six popular Nigerian music stars have earned nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards.
They are set to compete in the same category, “Best African Music Performance,” showcasing Nigerian talent on the global stage.
Among the nominees is Davido, who has received his fourth Grammy nomination. His feature on Chris Brown’s song “Sensational,” which also features Lojay, got him this recognition.
The full list of Nigerian nominees in the “Best African Music Performance” category includes:
– Davido (featured in “Sensational” with Chris Brown and Lojay)
– Yemi Alade with her song “Tomorrow”
– Asake and Wizkid with their collaboration “MMS”
– Burna Boy with the song “Higher”
– Tems with her track “Love Me JeJe”
In other Grammy news, Beyoncé has broken a historic record, becoming the artiste with the most Grammy nominations ever, surpassing her husband, Jay-Z. Beyoncé leads with an impressive 11 nominations this year.
Other artistes with high nominations include Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone, each with seven nominations, followed by Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, and Taylor Swift with six each.
Notably missing from this year’s nominations are Ayra Starr and Tyla, both of whom were contenders in the 2024 Grammy Awards but did not receive nominations this time around.
The 2025 Grammy Awards will take place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
