Nigerian billionaire and businesswoman, Folorunsho Alakija, has reportedly lost her sight.
Medical sources taking care of the 73-year-old oil magnate revealed this sad news.
Reports suggest that her health troubles began after a terrifying near-air accident. According to SaharaReporters, Alakija and her husband, Modupe Alakija, were on the same flight when a serious incident happened, causing her blood pressure to rise.
The rise in blood pressure is believed to have affected her eyesight. To avoid flying with her husband again, she reportedly bought a new jet and is said to have started a church for spiritual help.
However, despite these efforts, her eyesight continued to get worse, eventually leading to total blindness.
“She had a near air mishap with her husband on board and her blood pressure reportedly shot up affecting her eyes
“She has been having eyesight issues but instead of treating the illness, she chose to start a church to help her. Now she can’t see,” a source told newsmen.
Alakija first started a small fellowship in her home around 2004, which later became the Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International.
In 2020, Forbes estimated her wealth at $1 billion. In 2015, she was ranked the 87th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.
She reportedly owns two private jets—a Bombardier Global Express XRS and a Bombardier Global Express 6000, known for their long-distance travel capabilities.
