The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has shared easy ways for Nigerians to report harassment by loan apps.
In a recent statement, the FCCPC explained how people can report cases of harassment from online loan companies. Many Nigerians use these apps for quick financial help, but some lenders use harsh methods to force repayments. They send embarrassing messages, sometimes with personal photos, to the borrower’s contacts if payments are late.
These actions have caused serious problems for victims, including job losses and public shame.
The FCCPC has promised to protect consumer rights and encouraged Nigerians to report any loan app harassment. Here is how to report:
1. Email: Send your complaint to contact@fccpc.gov.ng.
2. Social Media: Message the FCCPC directly on X (formerly Twitter).
3. Website: Go to fccpc.gov.ng, click on “File a Complaint,” and fill out the form. You will need to provide the loan app’s name, contact details, loan amount, and a description of your complaint.
The FCCPC is committed to addressing these issues and ensuring that Nigerians are treated fairly.
