Yoruba Nation Activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has rejected a planned protest set to start on Thursday.
He stated that he and his organization are not involved in the protest, which is being organized by unknown people trying to disrupt the country.
Igboho praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold policies since taking office on May 29, 2023, noting that these actions have upset those who feel entitled to rule Nigeria and have led to efforts to cause trouble for Tinubu’s administration, especially on social media.
He addressed recent notices from unknown individuals planning “10 days of rage” starting August 1, 2024, with the slogan “Tinubu Must Go!”
He emphasized that while peaceful protest is a constitutional right, calls for an unconstitutional change of government are not acceptable.

Moreover, he pointed out that during President Buhari’s eight-year term, there were no protests for regime change from the Southwest, even during difficult times. Protests then were aimed at protecting communities, not destabilizing the country.
Beyond Boders further reports that Igboho made it clear that the Yoruba Nation Movement will not join the protest, calling it politically motivated. He stressed that the Yoruba nation will not be used to break up Nigeria.
He also highlighted that economic challenges are a global issue, not just a Nigerian one.
Since his release from detention, Igboho has traveled widely and seen that many countries are facing similar difficulties.
He noted that President Tinubu’s government has taken steps to reduce food prices and raise the minimum wage, showing a commitment to improving people’s lives.
Igboho urged all Yoruba people and Nigerians to reject the protest, stating that the path to change is through democratic processes like elections.
He warned that any attempts to create violence during these protests will be firmly resisted and that those planning such actions should stay off the streets.
