Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the House of Representatives, reportedly attacked and threatened a driver from a ride-hailing service, Bolt, who was delivering a package to him on Sunday.
The incident, filmed by the driver at Ikwechegh’s residence in Maitama, Abuja, quickly went viral online.
In the video, Ikwechegh, visibly upset, is seen slapping and verbally abusing the driver, who had asked Ikwechegh to come outside to pick up a snail delivery.
Ikwechegh, who represents Aba North and South in the Federal Constituency under APGA (All Progressives Grand Alliance), took offense to the request, stating it was disrespectful to his status. He warned the driver, saying he could make (him) “disappear” without consequences.
“I can make this man (driver) disappear in the whole of Nigeria and nothing will happen,” Ikwechegh is heard saying in the video.

“I am not going to call my policemen to beat you up, I will do that myself. I will show that I am a big brother to you, tie you up, lie you down and put you in my generator house. Do you know where you are? Because you saw me sitting outside here,” he added, continuing to insult the driver.
When the driver asked for his delivery fee, Ikwechegh allegedly slapped him again, taunting him to tell the public he had been slapped by “Honourable Alex Ikwechegh.”
This incident follows Ikwechegh’s recent legal victory in September when the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Umuahia, Abia State, ordered the replacement of Labour Party member Emeka Nnamani with Ikwechegh as the elected representative. This ruling was based on Nnamani’s alleged certificate forgery.
Although Nnamani denied the allegations, he claimed it was a tactic by opposition parties.
As of now, Ikwechegh has not publicly responded to the incident. The video has sparked outrage among viewers, calling for accountability.
