Nigerian actor and politician Desmond Elliot has spoken out about recent claims suggesting he is gay.
The rumour started after his name appeared on a list of Nigerian celebrities alleged to be involved in homosexuality, causing a strong reaction from the public.
In a video interview with TVC, which has gone viral, Elliot called the accusation “baseless.” He explained that he does not see any reason to react to such claims, as they have no effect on his life. Instead, he shared that he is more focused on doing positive things for people.
“Why would I respond to allegations made against me when it did not reduce or increase my life? Secondly, it is an opinion that is being conceived. And I don’t think it is necessary for me to come out and say it’s true or not true; as long as I’m affecting people positively, I’m good. So let me state it very clearly that I am straight,” Elliot said.
