The international community has expressed outrage and condemnation over Israel’s devastating airstrike on a camp for displaced Palestinians in Rafah, which resulted in the loss of at least 45 lives and injured 200 others.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres denounced the attack, stating, “There is no safe place in Gaza. This horror must stop.”
To this effect, the UN Security Council has scheduled an emergency meeting to address the crisis.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with over a million people having fled Rafah in recent weeks.
The UN relief agency in Gaza (UNRWA) has warned of a dire situation, with civilians facing constant bombardments, food and water shortages, and unsuitable living conditions.
The international community has called for an immediate ceasefire, with the International Court of Justice ordering Israel to halt its offensive in Rafah.
However, Israel has vowed to continue its operation despite mounting global pressure.
