In a recent development, the Federal High Court in Lagos has handed down a conviction to the well-known personality, Bobrisky, for disrespecting the Nigerian currency, the Naira.

The controversial figure, also known as Idris Okuneye, faced Justice Abimbola Awogboro, who found him guilty after examining the evidence presented.

During the proceedings, Bobrisky expressed his lack of awareness regarding the law concerning the treatment of the Naira.

He stated that as a social media influencer with a substantial following of over five million people, he was unaware of the legal ramifications.

However, Justice Awogboro reminded Bobrisky that ignorance of the law does not excuse its violation.

Prior to this conviction, Bobrisky had been brought before the court on four charges related to the disrespect of the Naira, as brought forth by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Identifying himself as the “Mummy of Lagos,” Bobrisky pleaded guilty to the charges.
