Late Thursday night, a shocking incident unfolded as unidentified gunmen abducted Mr. Joshua Rogers, a journalist and reporter affiliated with Channels Television, from his home in Rumuosi, located within the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Beyond Boders reports that Rogers, known for his coverage of the activities at the Rivers State Government House, was targeted by the assailants shortly after he returned home from work.
Eyewitnesses report that the criminals intercepted Rogers before he could exit his vehicle, brandishing firearms and forcibly taking him, along with his car, to an undisclosed location around 9 pm.
According to a source who preferred to remain anonymous, Rogers had earlier attended an event at Ndoni in the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of the state, where Governor Siminalayi Fubara inaugurated a Primary Healthcare Centre.
This event was organized by the PAMO Educational Foundation, established by former Rivers governor, Dr. Peter Odili.

“Yes, he was kidnapped last night at his residence in Rumuosi and taken away in his car by some unknown gunmen,” the source confirmed.
“We are appealing to the kidnappers to release him immediately and unhurt. He is just a journalist doing his job and not a money bag. So I don’t know the purpose of his kidnap.”
Reports indicate that the abductors have already made contact with Rogers’ wife, demanding a ransom of N30 million for his safe release.
Efforts to verify the incident with the State Police Command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, proved futile as calls to her went unanswered.
Additionally, a text message sent to her remained unanswered as of this publication.
