The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has told all telecom companies in Nigeria to unblock all lines that were stopped due to problems with linking and verifying National Identification Numbers (NIN) with SIM cards.
This sudden change comes after the NCC had earlier set a July 31 deadline for telecom companies to block all lines with unverified NINs.
The reversal may be related to a planned protest and claims that the government was trying to stop the protest by blocking telecommunications.
