On Thursday, education leaders set the lowest score needed for university admission at 140.
This score is not the same for all universities. Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the head of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), explained this during a meeting in Abuja.
The PUNCH reported that many schools sent their lowest scores to JAMB. Some schools like Pan-Atlantic University in Lagos, Covenant University in Ogun, Obafemi Awolowo University in Osun, and the University of Lagos chose 200 as their lowest score.
Prof. Oloyede also said that JAMB does not set the final admission scores, stating, “JAMB does not set cut-off mark. What we have is a minimum benchmark score that any university cannot go below. Different universities have their benchmark scores.”
