Luton Town’s hopes of climbing out of the Premier League’s relegation spots were dashed as they settled for a draw against Everton at Kenilworth Road.
Everton, already safe from relegation, took the lead with a penalty after 24 minutes. Dominic Calvert-Lewin calmly converted the spot-kick after Luton defender Teden Mengi was penalized for a foul.
Moreso, Elijah Adebayo, making his first start since February, leveled the score for Luton seven minutes later with a strong low shot past Jordan Pickford.
Both teams had chances in the second half, but neither could break the deadlock. The draw leaves Luton in the bottom three, tied on points with Nottingham Forest but having played more games.
Luton manager Rob Edwards expressed disappointment at not securing a win but praised his players’ effort and commitment.

Adebayo’s return to scoring form was a bright spot for Luton, although Edwards may rue his lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury.
Despite a late surge from Luton, Everton held on for a point, showing determination in defense. Manager Sean Dyche felt his side should have been awarded a second penalty but acknowledged the challenge of the game.
With safety assured, Everton can approach the remaining games with more freedom, leaving the relegation worries to other teams.
