A devastating landslide has struck Papua New Guinea, leaving hundreds of people trapped under the rubble.
The disaster has affected the remote Enga province, with estimates suggesting around 670 people may be buried.
“There are estimated 150-plus houses now buried” said Serhan Aktoprak, head of the International Organisation for Migration in Papua New Guinea.
He also disclosed that rescue teams were working tirelessly to reach the affected areas, but the difficult terrain and damaged roads were making it a challenging task.
Rescuers have managed to reach some areas, and relief efforts are underway. However, the search for survivors is ongoing, and the full extent of the damage is still unknown.
