Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has officially taken office as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the union’s national headquarters in Abuja.
MC Oluomo became president through a consensus decision during the union’s Quadrennial Delegate Conference held at the Zonal Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State.
This event, held on Saturday, included participation from four southwestern states; Ogun, Lagos, Ekiti, and Ondo—since the national body had assigned the position to this region.
A large crowd accompanied Akinsanya to the national secretariat, where he was welcomed with cheers. He was introduced to members of the National Administrative Council (NAC) and the Central Working Committee (CWC) before the formal swearing-in began.
The union’s Legal Officer, Mercy Ibeh, led the swearing-in ceremony, where Akinsanya officially took the oath as national president. Alongside him, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede was sworn in as Vice President for the Southwest, and Akeem Adeosun took office as a Trustee.
In his address, Akinsanya thanked union members and supporters for their trust and support. He promised to follow the union’s constitution faithfully and work towards its progress.
“I promised to lead the union to a greater height with the help of almighty Allah,” he declared.
MC Oluomo urged union members to remain united and peaceful. He emphasized that the welfare of all members would be a top priority under his leadership.
