The family of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, has said they do not support plans to celebrate the late singer’s anniversary with big events.
In a statement signed by Monisola Odumosu, a family legal team member, the family said they prefer to mourn Mohbad quietly. They do not want to reopen old wounds.
The family is concerned that some people and organizations might use Mohbad’s memory for profit. Thus, they have asked these groups to stop such plans unless they get proper approval from the family.
“It has come to the attention of the Aloba family that some organisations have been planning to celebrate the first anniversary of the death of our late son and singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad). The Aloba family wishes to appeal to such interest groups to suspend such ideas,” the statement read in part.
Beyond Boders recalls that Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. The circumstances around his death are still unclear.
