The test to find out why the late music star, Ilerioluwa Aloba, commonly known as Mohbad, passed away is now complete.
This test, called toxicology, checks what substances were inside his body when he died.
Reports from PUNCH Online said this test happened in the United States. A lawyer from Lagos State, Oluwaseun Akinde, shared this news with the court in Ikorodu back in November 2023.
He said they finished studying Mohbad’s body on the outside, but they still needed to do tests inside.
A person who knows about the case but did not want their name known said that last week, they sent the test results to the DNA and Forensic Centre in Lagos. Then, earlier this week, the results were sent to the police.
“The toxicology test is ready and given to the police. We projected 10 weeks from the outset but it came in before then. It was received by the DNA and Forensic Centre last week and has been sent to the police,” the source disclosed.
Someone from the Lagos State Police who chose to remain anonymous also confirmed they got the results.
The source said, “The toxicology report is with us. It arrived on Monday, but it is medical jargon for us. We don’t understand what it is. So it has been sent to the pathologist that carried out the autopsy to analyse and interpret it.”
Moreover, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, could not be reached for comment.
The Director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, Richard Somiari, had said on March 20 that the toxicology results would be ready in three to four weeks.
During a court investigation into Mohbad’s death, Somiari said, “We expected to get the first set of autopsy results in three to four weeks and re-confirm to authenticate the cause of the death.
“We searched for multiple possibilities, to check if poison was involved in the death of Mohbad since no actual cause was mentioned.”
He assured everyone that the samples were safe and secure during the tests. “We have a place where items are stored for safety and security of results. There is a procedure for monitoring samples moved abroad,” he said.
Beyond Boders recalls that Mohbad was 27 when he passed away on September 12, 2023, which caused a lot of debate online.
He used to be part of Marlian Music, owned by Naira Marley, but left in February 2022.
The Lagos State Police started a special team to look into his death on September 18, 2023.
His death also led to Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu, known as Sam Larry, getting arrested, while Mohbad’s body was dug up on September 21, 2023, for the autopsy.
