Mysterious Disappearance of PIDOM NIGERIA Whistleblower Raises Fears

by Beyondboders

Nigerian journalist, David Hundeyin has raised concerns about the disappearance of PIDOM NIGERIA, an anonymous whistleblower known for revealing government misconduct.

Hundeyin shared his worries in a post on X titled, “SOS Alert: PIDOM NIGERIA Is Missing (And I Think We May Know Who Has Him).”

Hundeyin explained that during a routine check of his messages, he found a disturbing update. He received a message from PIDOM NIGERIA’s account, supposedly sent by a close associate, claiming that PIDOM had been arrested on August 5 in Port Harcourt and then moved to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja.

It was reported that PIDOM is now under the control of the National Cybercrime Centre (NCCC).

However, Hundeyin expressed doubts about the truth of this message and the person who sent it. He noticed several issues, including incorrect login details for PIDOM’s social media accounts, attempts to get Hundeyin’s personal information, and unclear claims about PIDOM’s detention.

Despite his suspicions, Hundeyin eventually accessed PIDOM’s Twitter account and quickly secured it.

After securing the account, Hundeyin noticed a series of suspicious activities, including attempts to hack his WhatsApp account and log into PIDOM’s Twitter account with the new password.

These actions made Hundeyin suspect that state actors might be involved because of the advanced hacking attempts.

Hundeyin shared that PIDOM had built a reputation over the years for leaking sensitive documents that exposed corruption within the Nigerian government.

These leaks embarrassed the authorities and even led to warnings from the Presidency.

Hundeyin mentioned that although he had a professional relationship with PIDOM, they had never met in person, and PIDOM had always been very careful to protect his identity.

The journalist is deeply worried about PIDOM’s safety, fearing that the whistleblower might be in serious danger or even dead.

He pointed out that the Nigerian state has a history of using advanced technology to target whistleblowers and journalists instead of addressing the country’s security issues.

Hundeyin called for public attention to PIDOM’s disappearance, stressing the importance of exposing what he believes might be an attempt by the Nigerian state to silence a well-known critic.

He urged Nigerians to understand the seriousness of the situation and to take action for the sake of both the current and future generations.
