Nigerian-American rapper OG Maco, whose real name was Benedict Ihesiba Jr., has passed away at the age of 32. He died weeks after being hospitalized.
His family announced the news on Instagram on December 27, describing him as a person full of resilience, creativity, and love. “While we grieve this immense loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived,” they said.
Earlier, on December 16, the family had shared that OG Maco was in critical but stable condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles. At that time, his manager, Poppa Perc, revealed that the rapper was on life support and asked for prayers.
OG Maco became famous in 2014 with his hit song “U Guessed It.” He worked with Quality Control and collaborated with stars like Diplo and Migos. In 2015, he was part of XXL’s Freshman Class.
Over the years, he faced several challenges, including a serious car accident in 2016 and a severe skin condition in 2019. Despite these struggles, his family says his impact and legacy will remain forever in their hearts.
