In response to recent rumours, Oba Saheed Elegushi, the leader of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom in Lagos State, has strongly denied any connection to the paternity dispute over Mohbad’s son, Liam Aloba.
“HRM Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, through his lawyers, has filed a petition against these persons with the Nigeria Police and other relevant security agencies in a bid to enforce his fundamental human rights and protect him from cyberbullies,” his media consultant stated.
Beyond Boders recalls that Mohbad, a beloved singer, tragically passed away at 27 in September 2023, sparking nationwide grief and calls for justice.
“The widely syndicated falsehood was promoted by some persons with the underlisted profile on the social media app TikTok,” the statement noted.
The controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death has led to various accusations, including claims against his former boss, Naira Marley, for alleged mistreatment.
Recently, a TikTok user made allegations suggesting Oba Elegushi’s involvement in Mohbad’s demise, which the monarch vehemently refutes.
It was further stated that these persons had made baseless accusations hence, the a legal action would be taken to address these falsehoods.
Through his media consultant, Oba Elegushi labeled these accusations as false and malicious attempts to tarnish his reputation.
Furthermore, the monarch has taken legal action against those spreading these rumours, seeking protection from cyberbullying.
Oba Elegushi expressed condolences to Mohbad’s family and urged the public to refrain from involving the traditional institution in the paternity dispute.
“It must be stated emphatically that Oba Elegushi, just like many Nigerians, is saddened by the sudden demise of Mohbad,” the statement concluded.
