The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewaure II, has asked Nigerian youths to postpone their planned protest set for August 1, 2024.
In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, the Oba said that improvements take time and urged Nigerians to allow the current administration time to carry out its economic plans, stating, “For things to get better, it has to be tough for a while.”
The Oba also asked the federal government to work harder on its economic and security policies, while advising those planning the nationwide protest to cancel it.
Beyond Boders recalls that some youths had planned a 10-day protest starting on August 1 to highlight their struggles and seek government action.
President Bola Tinubu has also asked Nigerians for more time to achieve his plans for the country.
