The management of Agidigbo FM has denied reports claiming that its chairman, Oriyomi Hamzat, the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola, and Islamic High School Principal Abdullahi Mfasasi have been released from prison.
In a statement shared on Oriyomi Hamzat’s Facebook page on Saturday, Agidigbo FM called the reports “fake news” and urged the public to ignore them. The statement also warned against spreading false information.
“The Management of Agidigbo FM has described as fake news, the rumour circulating round that the chairman of Agidigbo 88.7FM Oriyomi Hamzat, ex-queen of Ooni of Ife Naomi Silekuola and the Principal of Islamic High School Abdullahi Mfasasi, have been released from prison, therefore urged the public to disregard the rumour and warned those spreading it to desist from such act.
“Stop the spread of fake news!!” the management wrote.
Naomi Silekunola is currently in Agodi prison following a tragic event in Ibadan, Oyo State, where a stampede during her charity event led to the death of 35 people. According to her mother, Mrs. Funmilayo Ogunseyi, Naomi has been on hunger strike and is not feeling well.
Speaking about Naomi, Ogunseyi said, “She loves children. The queen loves and helps children, single mothers, old women, and widows. She is still in pain that those children lost their lives because her intention was pure.”
Ogunseyi added that organising charity events to help people has been Naomi’s passion for many years.
Meanwhile, Oriyomi Hamzat and Abdullahi Mfasasi were arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ibadan on December 24 and remain in custody.
