Victor Osimhen showed his kindness on Sunday by dedicating his two goals to Mauro Icardi, his injured teammate, in Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over Samsunspor in Turkey’s Super Lig.
The Nigerian striker opened the scoring only three minutes into the game and scored again in the 55th minute, just after Samsunspor’s Jules Ntcham had equalized through a penalty.
After scoring, the 25-year-old celebrated by raising Icardi’s shirt in front of the cheering fans at RAMS Park in Istanbul.
Osimhen, who is playing for Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli, has now scored six goals in six league games and eight in nine matches across all competitions.
Galatasaray shared an update on Icardi’s health on Sunday, saying that the 31-year-old Argentine “was diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee and meniscus damage in the MRI examinations.
“Our player, who is scheduled for surgery, has started rehabilitation before surgery,” adding that he was stretchered off the field in that game due to the injury.
Galatasaray currently ranks third in their Europa League group and leads in the Turkish league.
