Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen received an incredible welcome from Galatasaray fans when he arrived in Istanbul at 4am.
The 25-year-old striker is close to completing a loan move from Italian club Napoli.
Osimhen was previously linked with a move to Chelsea and had offers from Saudi Pro League teams. However, he has chosen to stay in Europe and will now take on a new challenge in Turkey’s Super Lig.
Napoli, who have signed Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea, are ready to let Osimhen leave on loan. Galatasaray confirmed that they are in official talks with Napoli about the transfer.
In an official statement, the club said, “Negotiations have begun with the football player and his club SSCN Napoli SPA regarding the temporary transfer of professional footballer Victor James Osimhen.”
Fans stayed up late to greet Osimhen in Istanbul, lighting flares and cheering as he waved and smiled at his new supporters.
Osimhen, who scored 76 goals in 133 games for Napoli, is looking to rediscover his best form after a challenging season last year.
