Popular reality TV star, Josephine Ijeoma Otabor, known as Phyna, has spoken out against the inclusion of Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 beauty pageant.
Beyond Boders recalls that Chidimma, a model with Nigerian and Mozambican roots, recently withdrew from the Miss South Africa 2024 contest due to questions about her nationality.
After leaving the Miss South Africa pageant, Chidimma was invited to join the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant. She announced her decision to participate in a video shared by the event organizers.
Phyna took to her social media account to express concerns that Chidimma’s participation might reduce the chances of “typical Nigerian queens” who have been preparing for the competition.
She suggested that Chidimma take a break from pageantry for now and try again in the future.
