The Lagos State government has announced that traffic will be diverted at Ikeja Along Bus Stop on the Oshodi-bound lane between Ile Zik and Conoil Petrol Station.
This diversion will take place from midnight to 4:00 am on August 17th and 18th, 2024, to allow for the safe demolition of an old pedestrian bridge.
This announcement was made by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, through his official social media account on Thursday.
During this time, only one lane will be open for vehicles in the affected area. The demolition will be carried out by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be on-site to manage traffic and ensure smooth movement.
Mr. Osiyemi emphasized that the traffic diversion will only affect the Oshodi-bound lane between Ile Zik and Conoil Petrol Station.
Traffic in the opposite direction, towards Dopemu and Abule Egba, will not be disrupted.
“Motorists are implored to be patient as the closure is part of the traffic management plans for the removal of the old pedestrian bridge safely by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA),” said Mr. Osiyemi.
He added that Jersey barriers and protective nets will be set up to secure the area and minimize risks, while the government aims to complete the demolition with minimal inconvenience to road users.
