On Tuesday, the Lagos State Police arrested popular musician Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, for not paying the full amount for a G-Wagon he bought from a car dealer.
Portable purchased the vehicle for N27 million, but only paid N13 million upfront. He still owes N14 million.
Reports say that when the car dealer asked Portable to pay the remaining balance, he often said the car was faulty.
After many failed attempts to get the money, the car dealer went to the police, while the police then arrested Portable.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest. “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought G-Wagon for N27m, paid N13m and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today,” Hundeyin said.
