Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, has returned to the public eye with a new hairstyle and fresh look after his release from detention in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Beyond Boders recalls that the singer was earlier remanded at the Oke Kura Correctional Centre on Monday, April 14, 2025, after being charged to court over a petition filed by veteran Fuji musician, Saheed Osupa.
Osupa had accused Portable of criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and inciting public unrest during an Instagram live session held in March 2025.
However, the case took a new turn on Tuesday when Saheed Osupa, through his lawyer, withdrew the case following interventions by top music industry figures and other respected individuals.
His lawyer said the issue was settled peacefully outside of court, but warned Portable to stop making offensive comments or posts against Osupa.
Because of this, Portable was released from custody and left Ilorin on Tuesday afternoon.
Photos and videos of the singer surfaced online shortly after, showing him with a new hairstyle, looking calm.
Reports also revealed that another attempt to re-arrest Portable was stopped by Saheed Osupa. The Managing Director of Starwood Hotels in Ilorin, Yemi George, had prepared to re-arrest the singer over a ₦6.3 million show fee which Portable allegedly collected but did not perform.
George confirmed that he backed off only because Osupa asked him to allow peace.
According to the petition, Portable was paid to perform at the Kwara TAMPAN Fiesta on September 29, 2024, but arrived very late and left without performing, causing financial loss to the organisers.
This is not the first time Portable has faced police trouble. In February 2025, he was declared wanted by Ogun State Police after he and his team allegedly attacked government officials at his bar.
In May 2024, he was arrested for failing to pay a car dealer after buying a luxury G-Wagon. In March 2023 he was arrested for assault at his bar and later released on bail.
Now back in the public eye, Portable is trending again, not just for his legal issues—but also for his brand-new look.
