President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians of his administration’s dedication to taking the country to greater heights.
He expressed this commitment during a visit by Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Assembly leaders, and former principal officers at his Lagos residence on Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Ikoyi.
Speaking on Wednesday, President Tinubu praised the lawmakers for their support over the last 19 months. He highlighted the importance of working together for the benefit of Nigerians.
“Nigerians are the heart of everything we are doing. We have come to serve. You have made my day by coming on this visit. Happy New Year. May God bless you and our country and give our nation more prosperity,” the president said.
The president described the reforms his administration has started as a foundation for future generations. He encouraged teamwork and determination to achieve national goals.
“It is for us to build a nation. We have confidence and competence. The enslavers want us to be anything but enslaved people, but we say no. We are determined, we are capable, and we are resolute, and we will be there. We will take Nigeria to that Promised Land with you,” Tinubu assured.
He also promised to make bold decisions and seek knowledge to drive development. “We have a saying in Yoruba that it is only a courageous dog that will capture the animal in the bush,” he added.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised Tinubu’s courage and reforms, affirming the National Assembly’s commitment to his leadership. Akpabio highlighted recent achievements, including increased foreign investor confidence and an oversubscription of Nigeria’s Eurobond.
Similarly, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, commended Tinubu for his respect and collaboration with the National Assembly, pledging continued support for his administration.
