Rochas Okorocha, a former governor of Imo State, has called on the Federal Government to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as a way to honour the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
Okorocha made this appeal during a tribute event for Ubah on the night of Monday, November 18. He urged the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, to pass the message to the government.
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who passed away in London on July 27, will be buried on November 22. Okorocha believes that releasing Nnamdi Kanu would be the best way to pay respect to Ubah’s legacy and bring peace to the Igbo people.
In his speech, Okorocha said, “I want to say to you, brother in whom I am well pleased Senator Akpabio, convey this message to FG on behalf of the Igbos seated here that the best to honour Ifeanyi Ubah is to release Nnamdi Kanu so that the Igbos can go home and re-organise their place.”
He also reminded Akpabio that, even if he was not personally in favour, he should send the message to the government for the sake of his wife, who is from the Igbo community.
