For a consecutive year, “Calm Down,”
the hit track of well-known Nigerian artiste, Divine Ikubor better known as Rema, continues to break records on the US Billboard Charts, and has become the first collaboration to remain on the Pop Songs Airplay Chart.
Securing an unprecedented position in its annals and solidifying its international impact, the Rema and Selena Gomez duet has spent 52 weeks on the chart.
The track had earlier made history by becoming the first African song to claim the top spot on the Pop Songs Chart, highlighting its immense popularity within the United States.
“Calm Down” also reached an impressive No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100, marking a significant achievement for African music in the 21st century and maintaining a remarkable 52-week presence on the chart, an unparalleled accomplishment for an African song.
With this, Rema has received six nominations at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, including recognition for Top Afrobeats Artiste, Top Radio Song, Top Collaboration, and Top Billboard Global 200 Song.
Recently unveiled was a new 5-track EP titled “RAVAGE,” amidst his growing prominence in the United States, solidifying his claim to the throne in the Afrobeats genre, while showcasing his elevated status.
