The Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives have started their yearly break as they are to come back for meetings on September 17.
Before the break, they passed some important laws, approving the new minimum wage law, while agreeing to President Bola Tinubu’s request to add N6.2 trillion to the 2024 budget.
They also changed the 2023 Finance Act and passed a new tax law on banks for foreign exchange earnings.
“We are hoping that Mr. President signs the minimum wage bill before Friday,” Senate President Godswill Akpabio said.
Despite the recent development, some committees will still meet this week and next week.
