Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has told southeast youths not to join protests against the government, stating that those who want protests are trying to cause trouble in the country.
Beyond Boders reports that Uzodinma spoke in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, at the final event of the All Progressive Congress (APC) campaign for local government elections.
He said the federal government and President Bola Tinubu are working hard to solve economic problems, while asking people to give the government more time to fix these issues.
Uzodinma, who leads the Southeast Governors’ Forum, told youths that those asking for protests are not friends of the country.
He asked, “Why must you be the one to protest and to protest against what? This government is our government, the government of President Bola Tinubu is our government. So nobody from Southeast will protest. We are not aggrieved, we have hope.”
He acknowledged the current hardships, but assured that President Tinubu is working hard to improve the economy, infrastructure, and food security.
Uzodinma further urged people to follow and support their leaders.
APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, also asked Nigerians to support President Tinubu and the federal government, as he believes that soon, Nigerians will see positive results from supporting the APC.
