The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Isa Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State, who died in the hands of kidnappers.
Isa Bawa and his son were kidnapped by bandits on July 29. Sadly, Bawa died while in captivity.
In a statement released by his media aide, Musa Krishi, on Thursday, Speaker Abbas condemned the kidnapping and the cruel treatment of the late traditional ruler, calling it barbaric and inhuman.
He said, “In the first place, the bandits’ kidnap of the traditional ruler was barbaric, their treatment of the late Sarkin Gobir as inhuman.”
Abbas also spoke out against the ongoing issue of kidnapping for ransom in Nigeria, calling it unacceptable.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Sarkin Gobir, the Gatawa District, and the people and government of Sokoto State.
Abbas prayed for Allah’s mercy on the soul of Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa and for his final resting place to be Jannatul Firdaus.
