A primary school teacher has been sent to a Correctional Centre after she beat her eight-year-old student to death at Landmark International School in Mgbakwu, Awka North, Anambra State.
Mrs. Faith Nwoye, the teacher involved, was remanded after a Special Court for women and children’s matters heard the case.
The incident was taken to court following a complaint from Mr. Ojiakor Okonkwo to the Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh. The complaint was against the school’s owner, Mrs. Promise Iloh, and Mrs. Nwoye.
Both suspects were asked to explain what happened to the student, Henry Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, who later died from his injuries. The case was then handed over to the police for further investigation.
Beyond Boders further reports that the Commissioner for Education ordered the immediate closure of the school, stating that it was operating illegally.
“This teacher would face other institutions against child rights. She is going to have the full wrath of the law brought upon her over her actions,” said the Commissioner.
