Students seeking financial assistance through the NELFUND loan portal are facing a barrage of technical issues, hindering their ability to register and apply for the loan.
Beyond Boders reports that the portal, launched to provide financial support to students in 126 tertiary institutions, has been plagued by problems, leaving students frustrated and seeking urgent improvements.
Common issues include inability to log in, JAMB registration number not recognized and confusion over required documents.
Students are urging NELFUND to address these technical issues to ensure smooth access to the loan application process.
Cletus, a student at Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, expressed his frustration, “It’s not working. I got to where I clicked ‘create.’ The image or whatever is not showing. So it’s preventing me. Infact they really need to work on the website.”
Additionally, Direct Entry and National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) students are facing challenges as the portal requires JAMB registration numbers, which they do not possess.
NOUN student,Ms. Gloria appealed to NELFUND to use admission numbers instead, “National Open University don’t use JAMB, so I urge NELFUND to use our admission numbers instead of our JAMB numbers.”
It is worth noting that the student loan scheme is currently in its first phase, with federal institution students being the first to benefit.
