Nigerian actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has faced criticism on social media for supporting Monday Okpebholo, a candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the upcoming Edo State election.
A video showing the actress at a rally, asking people to vote for Okpebholo, has gone viral.
In the video, Johnson-Okojie talked about the problems in Edo State, including lack of electricity, water, healthcare, and security.
She asked the crowd, “Are you not tired? No light, water, healthcare, security and good roads. If you will vote for senator Monday, raise your hand.
“…So when you get to that field early in the morning, vote for Monday, vote for APC, vote for the broom.”
Okpebholo is competing against other candidates like Asue Ighodalo from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Olumide Akpata from the Labour Party (LP).
Many people on social media are upset, accusing the actress of supporting the ruling party even though the country is facing tough economic challenges.
