Nollywood actress and former deputy governorship candidate for Rivers State, Tonto Dikeh, has given reasons why she defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the rulling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Beyond Boders recalls that on Monday, news broke that the Tonto was unveiled as the newest member of the All Progressive Congress by the APC women leader, as the party officially welcomed her in a statement on their Twitter page.
The actress having sparked mixed reactions by her actions, had many regarding her as a hypocrite.
Tonto Dikeh through her Instagram page, defended her actions, stating she has realized over the years that effective leadership comes from visionary leaders who offer selfless service to humanity.
The decision to join the APC according to her, is not only a personal victory, but a victory for Nigerians, hope, and struggles, as the progress of Nigeria and its youth are her top priorities.
She mentioned she decided to put her emotions aside and continue working for the betterment of Nigerian youth, women, and the country as a whole, after considering the facts, goals, and vision of the current Renewed Hope Agenda.
The actress cum politician further expressed her belief in the prosperity of Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Facts accompanied with evidence usually bring arguments to an end, leading to significant decisions and changes for the greater good,” she said.
Besides, she highlighted her previous work with the Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS), in collaboration with the Federal Government, as evidence of her commitment to serving her nation.
She further stressed her unwavering dedication to Nigerians, expressing her confidence that the positive impact of her decision will be felt by all in due time.
Tonto has therefore reiterated her faith in Nigeria’s prosperity under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, as a patriotic Nigerian, a progressive youth, and an advocate for the girl-child.
