Nigerian actress and businesswoman, Liz Anjorin, has said she still respects gospel singer Tope Alabi, even though the singer refused to attend her surprise birthday party.
Speaking during an interview, Liz said she would not allow the incident to stop her from showing respect. She explained,
“I have a lot of projects I am working on for me to be dwelling on what my sister (Alabi) has done. It has nothing to do with my personal life. People that hold grudges would not be able to move on and be productive. Do you think because she did not honour me yesterday, I will not greet her when I see her? I will still greet her with my two knees on the floor. Whatever she has done is between her and God.”
Reports said Tope Alabi was invited by some of Liz’s fans living abroad, who paid her N2.5 million to perform at the party. But when she arrived and found out that it was Liz Anjorin’s event, she stayed in her car and refused to come out. She later returned the payment.
When asked if they had any past issues, Liz said,
“I have never had issues with her. In my live show, I stated some facts there. I have been to her concert before and I didn’t have an issue with her. I like Aunty Tope, she is my very good sister. What happened yesterday might have even been a mistake. We are human beings and nobody can tell what happened except her.”
Liz also added that the problem was not really between her and Tope, but with the people who paid the singer to come.
When reporters tried to ask Tope Alabi about the matter, she refused to talk and ended the call.
