World Teachers’ Day is annual celebration which takes place on the 5th of October, to celebrate the work of teachers around the world. The theme of World Teachers’ Day for 2023 is “The transformation of education starts with teachers.”

It was established in 1994 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to commemorate the signing of the 1966 Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. The organization has designated World Teachers’ Day as an official UN day.

As an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of education and the challenges that teachers face, this day serves as an opportunity to recognize the important role that teachers play in society; they educate and inspire the next generation, playing a vital role in shaping the future.
